VAT exemption

Most care providers don't pay VAT on this equipment.

It's a tick box at checkout, not a form in the post. Here's who qualifies and what we need from you.

The short version: if the equipment is for a person who is chronically sick or disabled, and it's designed to help with that condition, it is usually zero-rated. You declare it, we apply it.

Who can claim

Care homes and nursing homes

Where the equipment is for the personal use of a named resident who is chronically sick or disabled.

Charities

Where goods are made available to disabled people for their personal or domestic use.

Individuals and families

Buying for personal use because of a long-term condition or disability.

Not eligible

General stock for the building, staff equipment, or anything not linked to a person's condition.

How it works with us

1

Add the item to your basket

Prices are shown ex VAT throughout.

2

Tick the exemption declaration at checkout

Name of the person it's for, and the condition. Two fields.

3

We hold the declaration on file

Account customers only do this once, not every order.

Not sure whether you qualify?

Ring us. We deal with this every day and we'd rather you asked than overpaid, or claimed something you shouldn't have.

This is general guidance, not tax advice. Eligibility is set by HMRC and it is the customer's responsibility to declare correctly.

Not sure what you need?
Neither were most of our customers.

Tell us the system, the room and the resident's needs. We'll tell you honestly what will work, including when the cheaper option is the right one.
